Users Of Swiftswitch Will Be Banned; Runescape Community; Mar 14 2005 (source)

A C Gower posted: "It has just been brought to my attention that swiftswitch blocks ALL adverts. Not only does it skip the ones on the server select page, but it also hides the ones above the game. So they are no longer visible. They might still load, but that's irrelevant since the users can't see them or click on them.

I am EXTREMELY pissed off. Those adverts are all that pay to keep the free game running. What a great way to thank us for running the free game for you, by deliberately cutting all the adverts off! NOT!

I am so extremely annoyed with this total stab in the back by a supposed 'fan' community who are actually just harming us.

This program is NOT legit. I am going to program detection to spot it, which is easy enough to do, and I am going to starting BANNING people who despite this warning continue using it to cut off the adverts above the free-game.

Futhermore, if Runescapecommunity continues to support or host this program which intentionally harms us, then I will consider that is no longer a fan site, and in fact only has their own interests in mind no matter what the harm to others. It will be considered a runescape cheat site, and it will be treated as thus.

You might think this is overreacting, but consider how you would feel if you were running a free service and trying to support a free community and they responded in that way? By cutting off the only thing paying for it. I feel completely let down. I just can't believe you think this is an ok thing to do!"
